Artist Statement

Lynae Hanson Biography Statement
Lynae grew up in the Minot/Glenburn area. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Minot State University and studied under Walter Piehl, Tom Willis and Robert Schweiger. Through travel, Lynae has experienced big cities, rural roads, the quiet vastness of national parks, and the rhythmic waves of the oceans. She is inspired by sunrises and sunsets, majestic rock formations, bright flowers, breathtaking trees and animals of all kinds. Lynae loves experimenting in all mediums, but is especially fond of acrylic and watercolor paints, dry felting, linocut printing, building furniture, and sewing.
Lynae spent most of her life working as a marketing and business operations professional, doing art on the side. The last stop in her lengthy career was as the Executive Director of Bismarck Art & Galleries Association. She recently retired and has decided to spend the next phase traveling, painting/creating in her home studio, and hanging out with her husband, kids, grandchildren and dog.
