Artist Statement

My body of work is a dynamic coalescence of styles & media that works to find beauty in the more complex aspects of the human experience. Inspired heavily by myth & philosophy, my work often examines the ancient, the arcane, and the inarticulate nature of our world through symbolism, representation, and abstraction.

I strive to engage my viewers with compositions that disconcerts the eye and question perceptions of transformation, duality, separation, unity and the active, ever-changing relationships between these ideas. As each piece explores various abstract concepts, they become dreamlike, compelling you to look deeper at the meaning of the world around you and the way you experience it.

I enjoy drawing inspiration from the masters of the Renaissance and the age of enlightenment, and often infuse my work with a similar type of symbolism and grandeur. My creative process is incredibly research driven, and informed by a wide variety of sources including poetry, literature, music & contemporary media. I am especially interested in the fields of philosophy, ancient religion, spirituality, mysticism, symbolism, psychology & sociology to inform the direction of my artwork in the pursuit of creating both visually and intellectually compelling art.
