Artist Statement

My work explores the human experience through vulnerability, myth, and quiet defiance. I am drawn to the body not as an object, but as a vessel. One that carries memory, autonomy, grief, desire, and resilience. Through acrylic and mixed media, I examine what it means to exist in a world that so often attempts to claim ownership over women’s bodies, voices, and stories.

My practice is deeply narrative-driven. Each piece functions as a chapter rather than a standalone image, informed by mythology, literature, music, and lived experience. I am interested in the tension between softness and strength, reverence and rage, beauty and discomfort. Hands recur throughout my work as symbols of connection, agency, and fate - what we hold, what we release, and what binds us to one another.

In recent years, my work has shifted away from purely aesthetic expression toward purposeful commentary. Pieces such as Unyielding, From the Gallows, and The Cost confront themes of bodily autonomy, historical persecution, and contemporary injustice. Others reflect intimacy and connection, honoring love, loss, and the invisible threads that shape our lives. I do not seek neutrality; I believe art can be tender and confrontational at the same time.

Painting is both an act of reclamation and preservation for me. It is a way to document what it feels like to exist in this moment, politically, emotionally, and spiritually, while creating space for viewers to see their own stories reflected back at them. My hope is that my work invites pause, empathy, and recognition: a reminder that our bodies, our stories, and our autonomy are worthy of being seen, honored, and defended.
