Artist Statement

I came to carving late in life. For the past twelve years I have shown in Santa Cruz Open Studios and not quite as long in the annual Pajaro Valley AC's "Sculpture Is". Had done a few other fairs/shows. Annually attend the California Sculpting Symposium in Cambria, CA

I prefer direct carving in alabaster and marble, roughing out with power tools and finishing with hand sanding. It is a collaboration between stone and carver. A finished sculpture shapes the space in which it resides. It invites touching. There is movement in the stillness.
