Artist’s Statement
In my art I take the viewer to a place of wonder and whimsy. I capture the lyrical in what I see often by combining a mixture of media. I want the viewer to experience the energy and rhythm I am feeling as it is conveyed in the brush stokes and marks. I use quick, big strokes and very loose marks to do this followed by slower smaller ones. It is a dance back and forth until it is resolved. The relationship of the colors create an emotional experience, a mood. At times, I add texture with painted and handmade papers to create depth and an element of intrigue. I am often surprised at how it all comes together and hope the viewer is too!
