Artist Statement

I am a practicing artist in Philadelphia. Even though cliche, my influences include Claude Monet and Salvador Dalí, particularly their approaches to color, interpretation, and imagination. My work combines elements of abstraction with recognizable ideas and images.

Most of my paintings begin with an idea or image that I have in my mind. Sometimes it is a story I want to tell, and other times it is a thought, experience, or life lesson that I want to express visually.

I started making art by adding color to outlined digital images. After training at Fleisher Memorial over the past year, my process has changed, and I now create my work primarily from my imagination rather than from existing images. Painting has become the medium I enjoy most and the main focus of my artistic practice.
