Artist Statement

Art is the core of one’s wellbeing. I realized this at an early age after visiting many art galleries. Art galleries immerse me into a different time and place, conjuring memories and experiences. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until retirement that I had the time to paint. Each day, I try to spend some time painting; it centers me for the day. Oil glazing is my favourite technique, although I have done watercolour and some acrylic. After many courses, both online and in person, I now have the confidence to show my work. Whether it be a covered bridge that has been washed away by a storm, flowers from the garden, crooked houses, a landscape, or a playful approach to flowering blooms, art has the power to transport the viewer to another moment in time.
