Artist Statement

Madison’s Ceramics consists of functional handmade, wheel thrown pottery including cups, mugs, bowls and plates. The pieces are hand carved to create surface designs made by the sgraffito technique and contains imagery inspired by natural life including leaves, flowers, bugs and more. Utilizing porcelain clay and a variety of pigmented slips, the surfaces emphasize the contrast between materials allowing for clean designs and bold patterns. Madison's Ceramics also includes sculptural work such as wall-hangings and lanterns that combine everyday objects with delicate porcelain flowers to bring beauty to the lived in space.
