Artist Statement

Through the process of painting I create visual spaces to explore the tension
between the natural world and the man-made. My work is a diagrammatic process in
which I assess the language of the Fine Arts, Nature and Music in search of common
iconography, symbolism or feel. The interaction between high-art, the biological and
sound meld together to form entire abstract worlds mirroring our own reality of chaos
and calm.
The main subject of my art is therefore, the greatest chaos of them all — life itself.
By scaffolding and sorting amorphous shapes, the indistinguishable reveals
commonalities between these seemingly opposing worlds, we must contend with the
divinity of the patterns. Moments of intensity and uncertainty drive my artistic process
and allow for the indistinguishable to be squared off, isolated, and therefore assigned meaning.
