Artist Statement
As an evolving self-taught artist, I resist the urge to confine my art within a specific category. I believe that the basis of artistic growth is about experimentation and taking risks while always being able to embrace even failure as part of the creative journey. Surrounding myself with other artists and styles of work fuels my learning and evolution as an artist.
Watercolor is my latest obsession. Ironically, it is a medium I purposefully avoided for years, intimidated by its unpredictability. Today, I embrace the fluidity and freedom of watercolor, relishing the dance of paint through water. This dynamic interplay has become central to my creative expression.
My painting process begins with inspiration, often found in nature. The Pine Barrens of New Jersey, despite their name, are rich with hidden beauty and are anything but barren. For me, beauty is just a hike away.
I like to think of my paintings as a glimpse into the paths less traveled, literally and figuratively. My hope is to capture the beauty and share it with those who view my art. Each piece is an invitation to explore and appreciate the unnoticed splendor in the world around us.
