Artist Statement

As a textile print designer with a 40-year career in the fashion industry, I have always been drawn to the interplay of colors, textures and patterns, especially when they are melded together into one cohesive compilation. Over the years, I have amassed a rich assortment of printed patterns and currently, channel this extensive experience and vast collection into creating mixed media collages. In my current work, I explore the dialogue that evolves between the figures and the printed patterns with no set plan on the outcome, comparing it to an archeological dig of sorts. As an artist, I find inspiration in the vibrancy of city life especially, the richness of different cultures I've experienced through my travels-and of course, family love. These elements serve as a constant source of ideas for my collages and I invite viewers to join me on this path, to explore the intricate landscapes of these images and to discover the stories hidden within. I look forward to many more stories that are yet to be told and the patterns yet to be created.
