Artist Statement

I like to show layers in my work, whether it be layers of light, emotions or history. I like to play with glass to show reflections creating that layered effect. My favorite work includes people, which brings current emotions to the forefront, creating something relevant. An avid puzzler, I'm interested in interpreting the lines and shapes of things juxtaposing them in a new way, finding the contrast, creating a piece that evokes multiple emotions. I like the idea of creating a historical record, I'm eager to capture everyday simplicity in a complicated and ancient world. I enjoy travel photography and I also gravitate to natural scenes, drawing on my background as an environmental scientist. I hope you enjoy discovering the many layers of life through my lens.
