Laura Sprague

Artist Statement

Laura is particularly drawn to the organic life force in people and in all of nature. Just as nature, in its unrefined forms stirs our souls, visual art stirs our inner longings, and she works to achieve multiple layers of meaning in each figurative and abstracted piece. She has been motivated to explore paradox and create objects, which visualize tension. Laura has explored the tension between dignity and depravity and similar themes. Recent sculptures focus on the intersection of thoughts of femininity, race, and vulnerability, born out of the imperfections within all humanity.
