Byrdy Wagner
Artist Statement
I am inspired by sun, trees & water.
My life and my art intertwine. I live in a treehouse in a forest on the Medina River. Natural light, towering cypress, oak and elms give joy.
Art at my grandmother’s was needle work, stitching and crocheting... artful but German farmer’s wife practical. My first vivid memory of wearable art and fabric was my new outfit from my grandmother... the grey wool jumper revamped from grandpa’s worn trousers & a silky top pieced from a torn umbrella. The repurposed rhinestone buttons on the wool jumper made my life complete and taught me that art always has elements of refreshing reuse, a strong vision and lasting love.
