Artist Statement

Whether I am taking wildlife or landscape pictures, my goal is to get people to appreciate and ultimately protect nature. This is how the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations have built the environmental movement. The Sierra Club did this through its Exhibit Format series of books by photographer heroes of mine like Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter. Sacramento and Northern California are fortunate to have an incredibly diverse bird population because we’re along a major migration route and near the Pacific Ocean. I take pictures that try to capture the birds and their habitat to build awareness of these beautiful gifts of nature.
