Artist Statement

Metal Worx Jewelry Designz was founded in the fall of 2012 when I chose to transition from Interior Design into designing handcrafted jewelry. I decided to make a lateral move and take my knowledge in the field of design and translate it into creating distinctive pieces of jewelry. As a self-taught jewelry designer, I take inspiration in vintage and antique components and repurpose them in new and reimagined ways. My expertise in design/color theory and how I combine my jewelry components create interesting pieces of jewelry that engage people in conversation.

Interior design gave me a view of how colors create moods and textures invite diversity within my jewelry designs. I combine different colors and textures with unique materials including vintage glass buttons, typewriter keys, antique spoons and hand-stamped metals to create a piece of wearable art. As in Interior Design, I use proportion and balance when designing my pieces of jewelry, so each piece is balanced in regard to color and size and that it is visually appealing to the eye. As a result, Metal Worx Jewelry has an eclectic style and feel to it.

Jewelry from Metal Worx Jewelry Designz is dedicated to vintage inspired, upcycled and hand-stamped jewelry. My jewelry is constructed from aluminum, bronze, copper, pewter, stainless steel, sterling silver and 14kt. gold filled. Metal Worx Jewelry is born out of a passion for designing distinctive keepsakes and creating personalized jewelry that tells the story of the past, present and future. What sets my jewelry apart from my competitors, is how I create a juxtaposition between jewelry materials and how I combine unique and interesting components to create the final product.
