Artist Statement

For the last several years I have enjoyed immersing myself in the exploration of color, shape and texture, non-objectively, using mostly acrylics and an assortment of mixed media. This new series of oil paintings, however, pivots away from past works, blending soothing colors and creating swirling, dreamlike motifs that feel warm and inviting. The overall movement of the pieces has an organic feel, reminding me of the way water moves or an up close view of a garden, filled with earthy shapes and smooth, rhythmic notions. The soft colors catch me when I walk by. These paintings feel like someplace I want to be, someplace magical and other-worldly.
