Artist Statement

My figurative surrealist paintings investigate the themes surrounding the deteriorating effects of capitalism on the Millennial psyche. I use Roman motifs (to signify what our “democracy” was modeled after) accompanied with horses (symbolize the working class) and jovial cubist forms to depict how labor functions as a distraction in our society. I paint the overworked and under-appreciated members of society, usually Black women, whose invisible labor maintains our society’s crumbling facade of
normality.
