Artist Statement
My work explores how landscapes carry evidence of change, memory and human presence, often in ways that sit just beyond clear perception. I photograph environments shaped by both natural forces and overlooked everyday impact, from freeway edges to controlled ecosystems to glacial interiors. I am drawn to moments where light, transparency and obstruction complicate what is seen. These visual interruptions reveal the instability of the places we move through and the traces we leave behind.
Whether I am looking through ice, glass or overgrown urban brush, I use abstraction and close attention to surface to create images that hold multiple truths. The environments I photograph are familiar but uneasy, shifting between clarity and distortion. My work invites viewers to consider what lingers beneath a scene and how our surroundings carry quiet histories of ecological and personal transformation.
