Artist Statement

My practice is an exploration of the revealing power of light. I have always identified as a visual storyteller, a path that began at age eight when I chose art lessons over guitar. Since those early days painting pictures of buffalo in snowy fields of Utah to my formative years studying old masters, visiting museums and cathedrals of Europe, I remain captivated with how light defines the world around us.

Under the mentorship of James Weeks and Philip Guston at Boston University, I came to understand visual language not as decoration but as a vehicle for complex thought. Throughout my work, light functions as a narrator, pulling and pushing form in and out of shadows, creating layered narratives within a single moment.

Working in acrylic and mixed media, I accumulate marks and build surfaces to find the right combination of materials to define subjects and space. I use light to guide the eye through the image, exposing or obscuring form to explore the tension between the seen and the unseen. My hope is that each work becomes an invitation to slow down, look again, and find meaning in what the light has chosen to illuminate.
