Artist Statement
These works use bird imagery and observed avian behavior, somewhat metaphorically, to convey the dynamic link between the process of search and the state of arrival. Elements of the surrounding physical landscape offer metaphors for the landscape of the human mind, while the birds themselves capture the shifting notions of fragility and permanence as they navigate through this ever-changing landscape. Lyrically linear passages of un-interpretable language enter some of these narratives to suggest a specifically human attempt at clarification, while also mimicking bird flocking.
Navigation, through place and amongst beings, becomes the narrative; a journey whose end may never be understood.
