Karen M. Gutfreund

Artist Statement

Karen Gutfreund an artist and independent curator with the focus of 'Art as Activism.' She is also a co-partner in Gutfreund Cornett Art, a curatorial partnership that creates exhibitions to promote the work of activist artists with the motto of changing the world through art. To date Gutfreund has created over forty national exhibitions with self-identified women artists, on feminist and activist subjects and has shown her own work in hundreds of exhibitions. Gutfreund's artwork reflects timely issues in pursuit of social justice and positive change. She has lived in all four corners of the United States but has now settled in the Bay Area in California.
