Artist Statement

Breathe in. Let it out. This series of delicate abstractions offer a moment to pause and reflect, float and drift with the clouds. Ethereal, gestural, the intentional line and mark making is employed as a foil to the spontaneous, accidental flow of washes and drips. Negative space allows the composition to rest. The monochromatic washes of pale color provide a sense of calm. Second generation abstract expressionists like Cy Twombly, Robert Ryman and Brice Marden percolate in the subconscious.
