Artist Statement

Photography is a medium through which we can share an understanding of our world. Each image represents a moment in time that we can consider, discuss and enjoy.

The best of these images seems to have the power to change the way we feel about places and ideas. A photograph may deepen our connection to a favorite location or it may cause us to consider a brand new idea. Through the practice of photography I am striving to create those images.

I have been fortunate to have spent many years exploring the Sierra Nevada and over time I have expanded my range to include the Great Basin. Living in Reno I have enjoyed easy access to both areas.

I am a graduate of th UNR school of medicine and now a retired emergency room physician. As a photographer I am self taught and constantly reading, studying and practicing to refine my skills.
