Artist Statement

Broadly speaking, I enjoy observing people as they interact in our society and go about their daily business. In doing so and in tandem with the creation of art, it is my desire to initiate a visual dialogue or commentary that the viewers of my work will also find worthy of illustration. A remark on the dignity or beauty of the subject as well as the environmental experience a subject may encounter are potential topics to be addressed. Specific to this show, the classical rendering of the nude is a 'building block' that I feel is required in the construction of more elaborate compositions. We must have an understanding of anatomy, and in that understanding we develop an appreciation of the figure as a whole.
