Artist Statement

The '4 Corners Unravels' series began with a vision of earth's four cardinal directions dissolving into a continuum. Overlaying unalterable wood grain with areas of transparent, malleable pastel and wafted smoke references the fluidity of life and world views which we humans have felt the need to codify. The first images were on square wood panels oriented as a diamond shape. This has evolved into a fluid diamond shape, seeming to caught in the act of morphing. The 'complimentary rectangular shape at the bottom of the images reference the rigid geometry of the 4 cardinal directions which are also b being eroded, transformed into a path for transformation.
The natural world feeds my imagination and offers new awareness. My art is realized through a passion for experimenting with media and creating beauty in response to the natural world. I maintain an unscripted, artistic path; I aspire to be as open to new ways of seeing, as Earth is vulnerable to the bombardment of cosmic rays.
