Rick Decorie
Artist Statement
I photograph the everyday—the buildings, vehicles, and machinery that surround us—because I want to share how I see the world. I am an explorer of detail, drawn to the fine textures, subtle wear, and overlooked elements that collectively shape our environments. In my work, I examine how the small parts create the whole, revealing beauty and meaning in things that might otherwise go unnoticed.
My photography is observational; a quiet act of discovery rooted in patience and attentiveness. Through my images, I hope to evoke a sense of nostalgia, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with the familiar in a new way. Sometimes, I accompany my photographs with narratives that explain why I was drawn to a particular subject, offering a glimpse into my perspective.
Ultimately, my work is about seeing—finding significance in the ordinary, embracing the overlooked, and sharing that vision with others.
