Artist Statement

My work explores painting as a form of visual language, one that brings together a range of techniques and material approaches. I am interested in how the inherent qualities of different media can be used to expand the expressive possibilities of oil painting. In particular, I am drawn to the calligraphic dimension of painting, which I understand through the legacy of Chinese literati art and the example of Bada Shanren. Through this process, I seek a balance between expression and the vital presence of the depicted subject, gradually shaping a personal artistic voice.

I view contemporary art as more than an aesthetic practice; it is also a mode of response to the conditions of its time. We are living through an era shaped by global crises, including environmental, economic, political, and social instability. My painting engages these realities through reflection on globalization, consumerism, and political identity. In this sense, my work becomes a way of questioning and confronting the complexities of the present moment.
