Artist Statement
I find art and my art work gives me a new and fresh opportunity to express myself. After many years in all levels of management in the high-pressure business world, being able to express myself this way is such a relief from the confines of organizational structure. My passion is the natural world, and to interpret and paint what I see. Landscape, seasonal change, nature& natures creatures, seascapes, still life and architecture are my typical subjects. I enjoy the occasional abstract as another means of expression but even my abstracts reflect my love of nature. I love impressionism and try to use it as my style but usually in a combination of realism and impressionism.
My body of work dates to 1965 where I first studied art in high school. My favorite media are oil, watercolor, acrylic. I also work in pen & ink, charcoal and pencil. Recent experimentation with cold wax & oil have taken me in a new direction.
In 2013 I retired from the high-pressure world of engineering. After so many years of work I realized how much I had missed the creative art process and in 2013 began my art journey again. My passion is motivated by my love of nature, color and composition and the creativity that comes from working with paint.
