Artist Statement
My current work uses a variety of media to combine images that are representative of personal experiences and memories. Small moments often become content for the work as I navigate through the joys and struggles of motherhood, relationships and day-to-day life. My process works to join fragments of visual information together to form a complete image that represents the memorable details of these events. Xerox transfers are used to incorporate photographs, drawings and written notes from loved ones directly into the work. Charcoal, paint, and ink, among other mediums, are used to create hand-rendered images that visually meld with areas of Xerox transfer and collage. The clustered compositions are similar to the fashion in which we recall a memory as we often only remember bits and pieces of an experience.
