Artist Statement

I sketch whenever I have a moment; a pad and a micron pen wherever I go. I find sketching to be calming and meditative and helps me see the surrounding world, to pause and appreciate the beauty in everyday things that may be overlooked in a busy life.

I approach a blank canvas as I do my ink drawings, I love showing my brushstrokes and lines. I prefer the versatility of acrylic paint as a water base medium. Over the past couple of years, I was awarded artist residencies which allowed me to create larger pieces and several paintings at once.

Most recently, I created an artwork series of quiet moments of contemplation, people lost in a meditative activity. As an artist, creating requires hours of pausing to see or to contemplate. This pause to see is my meditation and I hope to share these moments of calmness each time the viewer of my art takes a moment to pause and see as well.

I work out of my studio in Ridgefield , CT illustrating children's books, painting commissions, and working on new series for upcoming shows. I am a member of the National Association of Women Artists located at The Art Club NYC.
