Jane Pellicciotto

Artist Statement

I'm a second-career jewelry artist after three decades as a graphic designer. Much of my inspiration comes from the urban environment with its surfaces, patterns and textures worn by time, the elements and use. I study the inherent design truths of what I see and abstract them into wearable art.

I don't seek perfection. Instead, I appeal to the inherent imperfections and contradictions that we all embody. We are serious but playful. We hold both light and dark, sharp edges and smooth. Rather than just pure adornment, I want my jewelry to reflect our human natures.

I began as a metalsmith but eventually turned to polymer clay. It satisfied the need for a more soothing and immersive tactile experience, allowing for easier experimentation and a sense of play.

I teach and show my work at national juried craft shows.
