Artist Statement

[Exploring through a textured lens and a never ending soundtrack]

Naturally curious, I am a fine artist currently exploring my passion in Syracuse, NY. From a young age I have had a fascination with texture and surface quality and my current works continue this thread.

My acrylic paintings are each inspired by song. The melody and words evoke emotion and a connection to life experience. The lyrics, textures, and rhythm are mirrored visually in the works, while giving new life and purpose to the forgotten spaces and the natural world of CNY and beyond. Each painting is a vessel holding my thoughts and stories; a lens in which I view the world around me.

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Science in Art Education from Syracuse University, and have a working studio in Baldwinsville, NY. Inspiring young creators drives my passion and I have taught high school art for the past 20 years in a suburb of Syracuse.
