Artist Statement

It is a frequent misconception that watercolors are mostly high key, light and washy in nature, and most useful in a quick sketch like manner. My intent with this exhibit is to demonstrate the versatility and uniqueness of watermedia and to exhibit paintings ranging from very traditional to more contemporary. I am experimenting with mixed media and the addition of pastel and collage to my watercolors (not shown in the samples) and hope to incorporate a few of those more experimental pieces to round out this exhibit.
