Artist Statement

I come from a landscape painting tradition.
In recent years, I have been drawn more and more into an expressive style of non objective work. I choose my palette and some mark making tools and begin, without a specific image in mind. I am engaged by the process of laying down a
mark, a shape, a color and then responding to what is on the canvas. I am
done when the work feels complete and intelligent.
