Artist Statement

My painting is a response to the natural world as I see it. I spend most of my time outside; painting, gardening or participating in recreational activities so it stands to reason that I'm an en plein air painter. Outdoors I connect with the landscape in a spiritual sense, tapping into a feeling that goes deeper than the physical elements around me. I paint the landscape where I live as well as the people interacting within it, searching for an emotion I feel the scene creates with the wish that the viewer will feel it too.
