Artist Statement

My subject matter is whatever happens to interest me at any moment combined with my search for staying on the right path while looking for the right future. Inspiration arises from shapes in the natural world (bugs caterpillars and forest paths) along with experiences (hiking, swimming, current events). I interpret these things into my work using patterns, stripes, grids and meandering lines and math (prime numbers and geometry) as my tools. As a consumate arranger of things, I juxtapose contradictory elements: straight lines with curves on tangents, mathematics with absurdity, randomness contradicts order, and complementary colors making solid surfaces seem to undulate and shift. These light-drenched, joyful stripes, patterns and curves burst outward in exuberant colors evoking feelings of optimism and transformation.
