Artist Statement

I am a Detroit area mixed media, 2-D artist, inspired by happenings on land and sea and all around the house.My great grandparents were Polish farmers and miners. They waved my teenaged grandparents off on the dock on their way to the New World around the turn of the 19th century to the 20th. My grandparents never pulled a plow in America; instead, they turned wrenches in Detroit auto factories and knelt to clean rich people’s houses.
My dad could never get roses to grow in our westside Detroit yard, and my mom served us canned vegetables, exclusively. HOWEVER...One summer day, Auntie Virginia showed me her vegetable garden and snapped off a crisp raw stringbean from the vine for little me to eat.
Today, I am a landscape painter. And my tomatoes and dahlias are the best in town.
When I painted this picture, I listened to Chopin’s rollickingl Bacarolle #6 in F Major. Frederic Chopin left Poland for France during the Great Migration of the 1850s. YHis body was buried in a Parisian cemetery, but his heart alone was placed in a pillar in Warsaw’s Holy Cross Church, where it rests to this day. I visited that pillar, once.
