Kyle Melendez Daigre

Artist Statement

I am a visual artist creating work exploring characters and creatures inspired by the natural world, along with my love for animation. Through the use of vibrant colors, myth, and experimentation with various media, my process involves composing images showcasing shapes, hues, and personalities that evoke curiosity and whimsicality.

A native of Seattle, Kyle Melendez Daigre began his artistic journey in early childhood, motivated by both his older sister’s creative abilities and a healthy supply of cartoons, games, and comics. Inspired by the wondrous landscape of the Pacific Northwest and a love for animals, he explores combinations of fantasy, mischief, and vibrancy within his work primarily through characters and creatures. At 15, Kyle became the youngest exhibiting artist and volunteer with the Onyx Fine Arts Collective, regularly participating in group and juried exhibitions. He later graduated from Art Center College of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration, showcasing a body of work that combined both his love for the natural world and fascination with storytelling for animation. When not creating, Kyle can be found taking walks around the city, perusing comics in local shops, or exploring public transportation routes.
