Natural materials, color, and the natural environment influence my work. Living in rural Missouri on a hill overlooking the Mississippi River valley, I can see the bluffs of Illinois. Light that shifts from season to season or minute to minute inspires my work. Knotting with cotton threads using micro-macrame and cavandoli techniques has been the foundation of my work. That work has evolved over time focusing on the creation of unique pieces of jewelry. Metalsmithing techniques have been used interchangeably with embroidery techniques to create depth and texture to my work. The combination of the organic, spontaneous results of the metal and embroidery with the precision and accuracy of the knotting has created unique pieces. My work has most recently expanded to include two dimensional textile pieces. As I continue to hone my embroidery skills, my goal is to capture that light and the textures of the landscapes around me.
