Artist Statement

My artwork looks to find the beauty and joy in life. I search for that sense of wonder in nature, existing so tenuously on this planet. I focus on the grace and spirituality of humankind within the difficult world that we live.

I work in a mixed media, combining sewing, painting and drawing. Sometimes using images as metaphors to represent the eternity of life, there is often a narrative that runs thru the pieces. Whether it is a comment on society or references to personal memories, it might not always be obvious.

Most importantly, I’m looking for a direct visual impact using the textures and colors of the materials.
