Artist Statement
My artistic practice is rooted in curiosity, attention, and a desire to belong. As a naturalist, I want to know the names of things, to understand how they grow and change, and to become more deeply connected to the places I inhabit. As an artist, I have a deep need to take these understandings and reflect my relationship to them through my work. For me, observing the natural world is both an intellectual pursuit and a spiritual practice—a way of learning how to care for the land and recognize myself as part of it. My artwork is an attempt to express this practice in a tangible, material way.
