Artist Statement

Hello everyone, it is with a deep sense of the echo of my family through time that l suit my first set of paintings for an exhibition in the Bay area, where I have lived my entire life. as an emerging artist, I have been very intentional in my plan of creating a body of work and then seeking exhibition. My résumé is that I have been painting nonstop for the last 120 days. Now the leg work begins.

I will make a point of telling you that the story I will share with you is allegorical. You cannot claim certainty from extreme coincidence or spiritual happenings in this life. It's not how it works. With that said I have found remarkable alignment with the life of Johannes Kepler this year, which has inspired me to paint.
I had never touched a brush to canvas until the middle of March this year. I have been filling my transformation and documenting everything and even hired a director for a documentary that I will be releasing in 2027 called" I am Johan". The story of this documentary is evolving in real time. My vision for an exhibition inspired by the cosmos and my possible relative Johannes Kepler. Of course this is just an idea, but a fascinating one at that as I am a trained actor as well as now a painter, which is my true love. I am self-taught. had long believed that creativity comes out in the middle of the night often between the hours one and 4 AM and so this is when I do my work which often feels like a stream of consciousness.

Solomon Kepler, born and raised in Lafayette, California, and a resident of the San
Francisco Bay Area for over fifty years, began a transformative creative journey in
March 2026. A former actor with credits on film and television platforms including Netflix
and Amazon, as well as a voiceover artist for numerous video games, Kepler
experienced a dramatic surge in artistic expression following a medical incident in early
March. Since then, he has created over 40 acrylic on canvas paintings.
Along with this heightened creative output, the incident brought on episodic vertigo
and dizziness—symptoms expected to resolve within twelve to eighteen months—which
Kepler views as altering his spatial perceptions and deepening his artistic intuition. His
work spans abstract, contemporary, surreal, and 3D forms, frequently exploring cosmic
motifs inspired by a profound personal resonance with the seventeenth-century
astronomer Johannes Kepler.
This connection is anchored by a series of extraordinary familial coincidences that
Kepler discovered in March 2026, none of which he knew prior. He experienced an
epiphany upon realizing that his daughters' names, Hannah Marie and Nina Grace, are
both female iterations of Johanna—a name tied to Johannes, which translates to
"graciousness"—with Nina serving as a traditional nickname for Johanna. Furthermore,
Johannes Kepler had a daughter named Annamarie whose mother shared the same
first name as the mother of Solomon's daughter, Hannah Marie, and both men's
mothers bear the name Catherine.
Driven by these parallels, Kepler has embarked on an exhaustive genealogical
quest to determine if he is directly related to Johannes Kepler. Utilizing church and
baptismal records, he has traced his family lineage back to 1675 in the same German
province where Johannes lived. Although the destruction of church records during the
Thirty Years' War makes bridging the final remaining decades extremely challenging,
Kepler is actually reaching out to German church and state archives to piece the history
together, seeking to discover if he is the first person to formally prove a direct
genealogical connection to the legendary astronomer.
