Artist Statement

I am a self-taught artist (other than a high school art class and adult ed life drawing classes) and a retired business journalist for a major newspaper in Atlanta, plus others in Texas, Michigan, Georgia and Tennessee. In my art, I am usually focused on exploring color and texture in mixed-media paintings and prints that often include collage and found objects. But my primary motivation is expanding my technique and artistic expression, be it through traditional realistic oil painting, or abstraction or historical or political commentary – sometimes all in the same painting or print!
