Artist Statement

As a beginner artist learning classical drawing, my practice is rooted in observation, discipline, and the foundational methods of academic study. I focus on training my eye to see accurately before drawing, developing an understanding of proportion, structure, and light.

Much of my work involves studying casts, still life, and anatomical forms to understand how structure exists beneath surface appearance.
I am particularly interested in how light models form and how subtle shifts in tone can create a sense of depth, volume, and presence. Through consistent practice, I aim to build technical skill while also developing a more sensitive and personal approach to seeing and drawing.
