Artist Statement
Art has always been my lifelong anchor. As a Georgia native who has called Atlanta home for the past twenty years, my creative practice has naturally shaped my journey into adulthood and deeply informed my work as a childcare provider, social worker, and yoga instructor. I approach art-making the way I approach healing: organically, resourcefully, and with a sense of wonder. Rather than imposing a rigid plan, I let the process unfold naturally, celebrating the pure, joyful act of creation.
This specific piece holds a sacred place in my heart, acting as a catalyst for transformative healing over the last three years. Guided by the childhood memories of my grandmother's beautiful garden, this painting came to become a place of peace and solace for my inner child. During some very difficult times, it served as my safe haven—a place where I could return to simply play with paint, let go, and freely explore. Through the act of creating this garden, I cultivated my own healing, ultimately coming home to a fully authentic, liberated version of myself.
