Bob Bechtol

Artist Statement

Bob Bechtol is a painter based in Kingston NY. His work explores visual and contextual balance in the dilemmas created by combining elements in opposition, and the structure of the paintings is arrived at through repeated rounds of combination, replacement, dissection and reconfiguration of the work –– finding balance, unexpected composition and coalescence within that process. His approach is informed by philosophical and spiritual theories on the unity of opposites and is conceived as observations/meditations on those animating principles at work in our lives and the world around us.
