STATEMENT
The creative zone is a gift of relaxation as it leaves me oblivious to the passage of time. For over seven years, I have been compelled to take iPhone images of flowers to document their growth and unique features. Often times surprising details emerge when manipulating the photos that I could not appreciate with the initial brief encounter. My images are mostly snapped quickly in brilliant California sunlight. The reassuring resiliency of perennials are particularly uplifting and l am often drawn to bold colors and distinctive forms. When I frame the flowers I am acutely aware of the ephemeral nature of the bloom and my desire to celebrate that moment of capture.
