Artist Statement

I have spent most of my career making things. First with a screen printing shop, then years in custom fabrication. While pursing this Ive always gone back to illustration. I endeavor to create accessible art objects for people who may not have a deep understanding of Art History, theory, or other philosophical conceptions of art. My work is rooted in storytelling in the graphic traditions of comic books, or declarative posters. I like to say that I obsessively draw on genres that evoke some visceral emotion tied to the depiction of folkloric characters. Whether I aim for it or not my work tries to honor the beauty in aggressive subject matter.
