Artist Statement

I am a contemporary realist painter whose work centers on humans, nature and preserving them. My recent work has shifted toward realism as a way of slowing down—of paying closer attention to faces, gestures, and moments that carry quiet emotional weight. I am currently in a transitional phase of my practice, refining both my visual language and the stories I want my work to hold. While my paintings often begin with observation, they are ultimately about connection: honoring individual humanity while gesturing toward something collective and enduring. I am increasingly interested in storytelling through figurative work, using realism not just to depict likeness, but to preserve memory, resilience, and dignity. My long-term direction is rooted in creating work that invites empathy and reflection, and that contributes, in small but meaningful ways, to imagining a more humane future.
